Houdini McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
This is an exceptional cabernet for the price: full-bodied, briny iodine/sea salt-maritime, black olive smeared and pumped with crème de cassis before a drying clasp of bay leaf provides a welcome savory note to the finish. The impression, a touch of sweet extract juxtaposed against a herbal tone and quality oak. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
93/100 - Ned Goodwin, James Suckling Wine Reviews
From a 65yo vineyard at Willunga. Matured for 14 months in French oak, 10% new. It's fragrant and frisky with boysenberry and light blackcurrant flavours sliding into sweet, woodsy spice and cedar. It has a gummy softness, floral notes and a general prettiness, though it also has requisite depth.
