2021 La Grenouille – estate red with quiet depth
La Grenouille is drawn from the estate block at Smidge, a small corner of McLaren Vale that always gives fruit with line, detail and gentle power. The 2021 vintage is no exception – a composed, quietly concentrated red that rewards a bit of time in the glass.
In the glass
- Colour – Black core with a ruby rim.
- Nose – Blackcurrants, dark cherries, dried herbs, tomato leaf and violets.
- Palate – Red fruits and sour cherries sit over cedar and spice. Subtle acidity, with tannins that build from the mid-palate, wrapped in fleshy fruit.
- Finish – Dark chocolate, length and balance; a quietly persistent finish that carries the fruit and spice.
